Standard Ruleset

The Dura rules must be followed at all times and generally apply to all official Dura platforms and media channels including but not limited to the game, discord, facebook & whatsapp.

The Discretion of a Gamemaster can override any rule or the details of that rule. Therefore we advise: if you think it could be construed as cheating -- to assume it is until it is confirmed it's not by a Gamemaster. At any time in any case Gamemasters have full autonomy to assess documented rule violations and apply Punishments as they see fit, also known as Gamemaster Discretion.

Repeated offenses of the same violation resulting in banishment can lead to account deletion.

If you disagree with a finding and would like to appeal, please feel free to open a support-ticket in the 'create-ticket' channel in Dura's Discord with details of the situation so that your case may be reviewed.

Gamemaster License
A Gamemaster's Authority and Judgement on a given situation within the Gameworld takes precedence over the Rules themselves. It is impossible that the rules can cover all qualities of a spirit of fair or healthy (non-destructive) play. At the same time some instances of unfair play (cheating or destructive behavior) which the rules do not cover in writing are so flagrant that it is apparent such should not have been done and therefore punishment may be dealt out even for an unwritten rule. For these special situations a Gamemaster is given full license to judge a new or nuanced situation as he determines to be in the spirit of fair and constructive play. We advise if you think it could be construed as against the Rules -- to assume it is until it is confirmed it's not by a Gamemaster. At any time in any case Gamemasters have full autonomy to assess Rule Violations and apply Punishments as they see fit, also known as Gamemaster License.

You may not manipulate the official client program in any way or use any additional software to play the game, including but not limited to "Bots", "Macros" and "Taskers".
You will be checked by Gamemaster's frequently to ensure that you are not breaking this rule, if you are unable to respond to messages on your screen you will be identified as a cheater and handled accordingly. Knowing this, it is your responsibility to be aware that you will be checked and therefore not put yourself in a position where you are completing game-actions without paying sufficient attention to the game.
It is not acceptable for somebody unable to communicate with or follow simple in-game instructions from a Gamemaster to be playing a character at any time. Furthermore, it is your responsibility as a player to be aware that a Gamemaster may check you for cheating at any time using a variety of tactics that may not include text.

Note:
- Computer Programs which allow you to switch, duplicate, or bind keys -or mouse buttons- are allowed
- Computer Programs which allow you to optimize your internet connection are allowed

Punishment: Permanent Deletion of all known Accounts

You are only allowed to have one character online per person.

Dura is a game and part of gaming is people disagreeing with you which can lead to insults and offensive behavior. Remember that you can 'Ignore' anyone you want with the In-Game Ignore function, however, 'Real Life Insults' in any form will not be tolerated. Examples of real life insults are Racism, Xenophobia, Homophobia, Real Life Threats/Violence etc. If you witness or are the subject of these insults please feel free to submit video evidence for investigation via our ticket system in Discord or via our in-game report channel. Screenshots are not sufficient. Note that what constitutes Real Life Insults is up to the discretion of the gamemaster, as is the severity which will determine the specific punishment.

Punishment: 3 - 7 day Banishment

In continuation of Rule 6.1 general and occasional insults do not violate our rules however repeatedly insulting individuals constitutes harassment and will not be tolerated. Generally speaking if a player is being insulting via private message you should use the in-game ignore function. If a player starts creating new characters to continue this harassment please feel free to submit video evidence for investigation via our ticket system in Discord or via our in-game report channel. Screenshots are not sufficient. Note that what constitutes harassment is up to the discretion of the gamemaster, as is the severity which will determine the specific punishment.

Every person has a right to privacy. For this reason, the only person that may share personal data of an individual is the individual themselves.
This means that no player is allowed to disclose data such as real name, address, phone number, credit card number, email address etc. of any other player.

Punishment: 3 day Banishment - Permanent Deletion

Abusing or taking advantage of game mechanics and freedoms in order to deliberately and without justification excessively harass other players within the game, especially in ways which would prevent them from progressing within or playing the game.

a.) Power Abuse:
Players are not permitted to entirely prevent other players from Playing the game without Adequate Justification. A player being abused to the definition of this rule must make a Genuine Good-Faith Effort to resolve the conflict before this rule can be invoked and processed in any way by the Gamemasters.

Definitions

Genuine Good-Faith Effort
Genuine Good-Faith Effort means a sincere attempt at reconciling the issues of conflict or making up for what has caused the Power Abuse, assuming there was a provocation; it is possible there was no provocation. This requires the player being abused to attempt to resolve the dispute with their abuser. Only when the player is unable to resolve the conflict after a serious and determined attempt can rule 6.4a be invoked. This rule is not intended to be used as a weapon immediately after provoking conflict. It is a last resort for situations where Gamemaster Oversight is necessary, as reasonable players on their own have not managed to find a resolution allowing both sides to be able to play the game.

Adequate Justification
Adequate Justification includes taking part in wars, being enemies, and consistently acting in bad faith, such as griefing, scamming, trolling, excessive insults, or similar behavior. Adequate Justification does not include petty arguments, ordinary personal dislike, or disagreements over spawns.

Playing the game
Playing the game means having the opportunity, meaning a realistic chance, to participate in the typical activities of the game, including but not limited to gaining experience, hunting, progressing, and taking part in events. For the purpose of this rule, Playing the game does not include actions that may themselves be classified as Adequate Justification. Playing the game does not provide protection from Aggression. This is a PvP server, and being impacted by other players, both positively and negatively, is part of it. Playing the game is not violated by being killed or impacted from time to time; it is violated when the amount of time spent toward your progression is significantly limited or reversed by other players impacting you. The line of what is permissible, meaning what does and does not amount to preventing a person from playing, is very similar to Neutrality.

Neutrality
Neutrality means that a player cannot be continually hunted, killed, harassed, or otherwise targeted beyond the point where they no longer have a realistic chance to progress or play the game. Neutrality does not mean Immunity, nor Freedom. It does not mean the player can never be killed, attacked, opposed, punished, or involved in conflict. It means the player must be allowed a realistic chance to continue playing and progressing. Neutrality is ultimately subject to Gamemaster discretion. A typical example of Neutrality may be limiting deaths to approximately one death per 5-7 levels gained, though the exact terms may vary depending on the situation, level, history of the conflict, severity of the abuse, and behavior of the players involved. Neutrality is the only form of protection that Gamemasters may compel of their own initiative under this rule. Immunity may also be imposed by a Gamemaster, but only as enforcement of an agreement a player has already voluntarily entered into and then broken, not as a protection created from nothing.

Freedom
Freedom is separate from Neutrality. Freedom means a complete cessation of hostilities between the specific parties who agree to it. Freedom can only be reached by voluntary agreement between the players involved. Gamemasters cannot compel players to agree to Freedom, and Gamemasters cannot force specific Freedom terms upon players. However, if players voluntarily agree to Freedom and that agreement is later violated or betrayed, Gamemasters may take action based on the violation of that agreement.

Immunity
Immunity is accorded by a Gamemaster to the wronged party after a Freedom agreement or other deal has been violated. It is essentially Gamemaster-imposed Freedom granted to the party who was abused, meaning a complete cessation of hostilities. Unlike Freedom, which is voluntary and mutual, Immunity is imposed as a remedy and runs in one direction, protecting the abused party. Immunity applies against the specific player or side that violated the deal, not the entire server, and like any protection it is forfeited if its holder commits Aggression.

Aggression
Aggression means making the first move in a hostile, destructive, abusive, or harmful manner that negatively impacts another player. Aggression does not include reasonable self-defense. If a player is attacked, griefed, stolen from, trapped, harassed, or otherwise acted against first, that player is allowed to defend themselves in the immediate situation without that defense automatically being considered Aggression.

This may include, but is not limited to:
1. Killing or attacking a player
2. Attempting to kill a player
3. Griefing
4. Scamming
5. Stealing
6. Harassment
7. Severe insults or abuse
8. Targeted hostility
9. Organized or political targeting intended to harm another player's ability to play

Active and Inactive Players
Active means a player who is genuinely playing the game in their own self-interest. Activity is reflected in actions such as gaining levels, training skills or magic for extended periods, completing quests, going on hunts, attending raids or events, crafting, and other genuine play. A player is Inactive once they have ceased genuine play. Merely logging in, standing in a protection zone, or chatting and socializing with other players while inside a protection zone does not count as activity. Whether a player is Inactive is ultimately a matter of Gamemaster discretion, and typically applies only after a player has stopped genuine activity for an extended period. For example, a player who was active for six months and then ceased activity for roughly two months (60 days) may be deemed Inactive. An Inactive player does not have the right to aggress against an Active player at any time for any reason, including past unresolved conflicts. If an Inactive player logs in for the purpose of negatively impacting an Active player, for example, logging in only to kill them, this is considered griefing and general destructive behavior, and will result in a ban. This does not give Active players immunity toward Inactive players: an Active player who aggresses an Inactive player is still subject to the normal rules and punishment. An Inactive player also retains the right to defend himself, as defined by these rules, against the aggression of an Active player, whether that aggression is over past unresolved conflicts or for no reason at all.

Loss of Protection and Statuses Due to Aggression

Any player who is protected by Neutrality, Freedom, Immunity, or any other protection under this rule does forfeit the benefit of that protection if they commit Aggression against any player on the server; meaning all agreements and protection statuses are voided. The purpose of this rule is to protect players from being excessively and unjustifiably prevented from playing the game. It is not intended to allow protected players to negatively impact others while remaining protected themselves. A player cannot use Power Abuse protections as a shield while also initiating aggression, harassment, griefing, or destructive conflict against others.

Reasonable Payouts

Reasonable Payouts only concern agreements for Neutrality.
Reasonable Payouts must be limited by the following formulas:

Level 1-50:
1,000gp * level

Level 51-120:
50,000gp + (level - 50) * 4,000gp

Level 121+:
330,000gp + (level - 120) * 6,000gp

If the conflict in question was "war," the maximum payment for players under level 88 increases to 200,000 GP.

An online calculator is available to calculate maximum reasonable payouts.

Additional Notes

1. Deaths can form part or complete payment, however only by mutual agreement.

2. Level-gain caps can form part or complete payment, however only by mutual agreement.

3. In the case of stolen or scammed items, the prescribed maximum payment may be in addition to the return or value of the item or items under common sense terms.

4. Every player is responsible for the things they say, regardless of the situation or when they say it.

Punishment: Permanent Deletion of all known Accounts (updated 15/03/22)

It is prohibited to offer, put to market, trade, sell, solicit, request, or conspire to buy or sell Dura gold or other in-game items for real-world currency or value outside the game. Whether you are the buyer or the seller, both parties are equally in violation. (This excludes the exchange or transaction of in-game gold/items for Game Store Items.)

Punishment: Deletion of all known accounts by all parties direct and indirect

It is against the rules to offer anything of currency or value that exists outside the game of Dura to manipulate something or influence action within the game of Dura.
Example a) It would violate Rule 8.4 to offer let alone pay $50.00 to another person to have X-player killed within the game of Dura.
Example b) It would violate Rule 8.4 to offer let alone pay $50.00 to another person to provide information that would be material evidence/information for a Rule-Violation resulting in a punishment, i.e. banishment.

Reporting Process & Policy

If you would like to report a player for cheating we encourage you to do so. All reports of cheating are 100% confidential and only Gamemasters and above from Dura's staff will be aware of the report and the details contained within it; the report is made anonymously, no one except Gamemasters will even know you made one.

The best way to report a player for cheating is through discord in the 'create-ticket' channel. The 'Report Violations' function ingame (ctrl+r) is not actively monitored.
Please be aware that your report will be processed in a timely manner. For a player to actually be found in violation of a given rule it must be first investigated by Dura Staff. Through that investigation if it is determined to be conclusive that a given player is in violation of a rule then and only then will that player be punished accordingly per the rules. This can take time as we treat no account termination as casual, we do not punish unless we are unhesitatingly confirmed in such violation, and lastly there are many reports and cases on a daily basis.

Be aware of Rule 7a.) False Information: Intentionally submitting false information to Dura Staff members. Punishment: 10 Day Banishment to Permanent Deletion of all known accounts depending on severity.

Submitting a report that you think is a genuine violation but our decision determines it is not conclusively does not mean you submitted false information. It simply means you were mistaken or did not have conclusive evidence.

Note:
At no time does reporting a rule-violation allow for improper behavior. When opening a report to Dura Staff the following is expected. No cursing, insulting, threatening, ultimatums, or general disrespect. Any of these actions constitute a discontinuance of response and discourse form Dura's Staff on your report.
